The necessary +

A suspected iodine deficiency requires a specific supplementation in iodine as well as in selenium.
A suspected iodine deficiency requires a specific supplementation in iodine as well as in selenium. Iodine deficiency, which can have a geographical, genetic or organic origin associated with malabsorption, even if only transient, is increased during pregnancy.
Iodine deficiency is evidenced by an ioduria below 100 µg/L.
Depending on its impact of the thyroid function, its severity and its duration, iodine deficiency may have adverse effects on the development of the foetus, particularly on its central nervous system. Iodine is essential for the synthesis of thyroid hormones, which are involved in the future baby’s brain metabolism, and contribute to normalise the mother’s thyroid function.
OLIGOBS® Maxiode has been specially formulated as a combination of iodine and selenium, as well as other essential nutrients. Selenium plays a major role in the activity of certain enzymes responsible for the activation of the thyroid hormones. Selenium diffuses in the thyroid gland and helps its normal function, thereby optimising the beneficial effects of iodine supplementation.
OLIGOBS® Maxiode also contains polyunsaturated fatty acids belonging to the Omega-3 family, which play a fundamental role in the development of the brain, the nervous system and the retina.
